Founder Story:  Summer Lovin’

Kami: Welcome to my little home.

Galen: Little?  And you live here alone?

Kami: Yep.

Galen: So which wing do I stay in?

Kami: Silly, it’s not that big!

Galen was feeling a little uncomfortable in Kami’s large house, such a large cry from his small house back home in Riverview. 

Kami: How about I show you around the island?  The paper says the summer festival is in town.

Galen: Yeah, that sounds great.

Galen relaxed as Kami gave him a tour of the island.  Most of the houses they passed were large and he felt a lot less nervous. 

They finally arrived at the summer festival and Galen headed for the snow cone machine.

Kami decided to have a go at roller skating.

Kami: Woaahhh!  I don’t think I like this!

Galen looked away so she could not see his grin.

Galen:  Keep at it you’ll soon pick it up.

He chose a seat right by the rink to finish his snow cone so he could watch Kami’s attempts at skating.

That was until a hot dog eating contest caught his eye.

Galen: I’ve so got this!

Galen came second due to one lady dropping out.

So you got this huh?

Galen: It hurts!

Kami had given up trying to skate and was relaxing with a snow cone.

Galen: Here Kam let me show you how it’s done.

Kami: Cheat!  

Summer break had really brought Kami and Galen closer together.

They became completely comfortable with each other’s company.

Galen: Is that a hair growing out of your chin?

Kami: What here?

Galen: Yep that’s the beast.

Kami was still analysing everything she could.

Galen insisted doing all the cooking and would often ask for feedback to help him improve.

Galen: So? What do you think?

Kami: Well the apples are a bit tart.  I mean you shouldn’t just use any old apples, it spoils the taste.

Galen:  I got the apples from you.

Kami: Mmm delicious!  No complaints here!

Spending all this time together, alone, showed Kami how she truly felt about Galen.

Kami: I'm gonna do it voice.  I'm ready.

Do what?

Kami:  This.

Which was she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.

Kami: Marry me Galen?

Galen: *gasp*

Kami: Okay, you’ve taken the ring so I’m guessing that’s a yes?

Galen: *mumble*

Kami: Galen?

Galen: yes yes yes yes YES!

A new dance studio had opened up while Kami had been at university so they decided to check it out.

Galen it seems is quite the natural dancer.

Kami, not so much!

Dancing wasn’t the only thing you could do at the new studio.

So Kami tells me, the lockers are quite roomy.

Oh, and they also have a pool!

While Galen enjoyed the pool at the dance studio, Kami headed out to see if anything else had changed while she was away.

The park had been converted into some sort of outdoor gallery.

Kami staged a protest against the change and the destruction it caused to the local wildlife.

She even rescued a parrot that had lost its home due to the removal of trees to fit in the sculptures.

It was dark when Kami returned home.  She was settling the parrot into its new home when Galen arrived with a crow on his shoulder.

Kami: Where did you find that little chap?

Galen: He was hanging around outside the dance studio.  I guess they destroyed his home when they built it.  He looked so lost, I couldn’t just leave him.

Kami:  Seems like a lot of animals lots their homes with the new structures around here.  I’ll get another perch sorted.

A neighbour popped in to say hello and with the weather so beautiful they all spent the day around the pool.

Kami made it quite clear she was not happy that Galen was hogging the lounger!

Neighbour: Shouldn’t you let her have the lounger?

Galen: Nah, this is much more fun!

Once their friend had gone they decided to teach the birds to talk.

Kami: Say I’m a little teacup.

Parrot: *squawk* cup.

Galen: You’re going to confuse him.  Try keeping it simple.  Hey crow, say hello.

Crow: I’m a little teacup *squawk*.

Kami: you were saying?

Galen was surprised to learn that Kami played the violin and was thrilled when she pulled out a guitar so they could jam together.

Galen: I didn’t know you played guitar!

Kami: Only a little, I bought it so I could learn but never quite got the hang of it.

Galen: I’ll teach you some day if you like?

Kami: Yes please!

Galen: Have you ever seen a TV so big?  It’s like having a cinema in your living room!

Galen was quite fond of animals and caught a Chameleon (which he named Bruce) he found while wandering along the beach.

When they weren’t enjoying the sunshine they spent their time working on their hobbies.  Galen was working towards maxing the painting skill and Kami had discovered writing and had started her first novel.

Galen also loved to spend time at the dance studio working on his moves.

Summer was coming to an end and it was time to take those aptitude tests for university.  Both Kami and Galen received partial scholarships due to their work towards the degrees in the previous term.

Galen said his goodbyes.

While Kami made the arrangements for their stay at university.  They would be staying in the same dorm for another 3 week term working towards completing their degrees. 

Galen walked slowly down the steps as they headed to the van that would take them back to university.

Kami: What’s the matter?  Don’t you want to go back?

Galen: I do.  I’m just going to miss being here with you.

Kami: Silly, I’m coming with you!  And in 3 weeks we will both have our degrees and be back here preparing for our wedding.

Galen: You mean you want me to live with you?

Kami: Well it will a bit difficult to marry you if you are all the way in Riverview wont it!  Unless you were planning on us living there?  We can you know.

Galen: What with my parents! No, here is perfect.  There is no-where I’d rather be.
