18.Clare & Martin University Special

The Pendragon Legacy

Clare and Martin University Special

I can’t believe it’s been nearly a month already since the last chapter o_O doesn’t time fly!  Well it’s time for our next special!  Our newly aged twins Clare and Martin are about to head off to university and this chapter stalks them *cough* follows their university experience.  Enjoy :)

Martin: So sis.  You ready to delve into the sparkly university tub?

Clare: I’ve been doing practice tests online, I’m gonna nail it!

Martin: You practiced for an aptitude test?!

Clare: Yes.  Your point?

Martin: Nothing.  Come on let’s see what freebies we got!

Martin: Oooh, t-shirts!

Clare: This is so cool!

Martin: Ha ha!  Look I can make it dance!

Clare: I think mines broken.

With the freebies out the way they knuckled down to the aptitude test.
Clare received a partial scholarship; unfortunately Martin did not receive one.

Martin called up and got them enrolled straight away.  Clare decided to work towards the Physical Education degree while Martin is taking Technology (yes he was going to do fine arts but it turns out while I was spending time with Julian and Poppy the game decided to give him that one already!).

After a tearful goodbye they headed off to start their new life as students.

After a long drive, they arrived.  Both were pleased to see that the snow hadn’t reached the campus yet.

After laying claim to their room Clare loosened up after the long journey with a quick workout.

While Martin got acquainted with his new dorm mates at the ping pong table.

It was soon time to head over to the meet and greet.

Clare: Hey Martin, look more free stuff!

Martin: Already there sis!

Martin spotted the empty lecture hall and decided to impart his wisdom on drum playing to the attending dust bunnies.

Clare decided to join the foosball game upstairs.

Martin: Thank you; you’ve been a wonderful class.  Today’s homework is 20 pages on stick twirling. *giggle*

Having seen Martin leaving the room, Clare decided to also have a go at lecturing.

Clare: So, urm… sports.  Yeah, urm… Oh this is silly!

Martin had been invited to a party and was already making himself quite at home!

Martin: Oh yeah! I’m so rock & roll!

Clare meanwhile had headed back to the dorm to prepare dinner.

And get in some kicky bag practice before classes began.

It was the first day of classes and the twins headed off to their respective buildings.

Clare found the best thing about being a genie was she never went hungry between classes.

Her fellow students also appreciated her gift!

After classes, Martin headed off to the comic book store to study.

Hey! I thought you were studying!

Martin: I’m doing a Technology degree.  This is a computer.  It counts as studying!

I don’t think it does.

Clare had decided to visit the campus café.

Clare: Boo!  Get out wrinklies!

Clare!  What are you doing?!

Clare: This place is full of old people!  Where are all the young adults?

Well, there is no need to be rude.

Clare: Humph.  I’m heading back to the dorm.  This place is no fun.

Clare headed back for an early night.

Clare: I thought uni would be full of young adults, parties and fun.  This place sucks!

You are here to study Clare not have a good time.

Clare: You’re just saying that ‘cause you are old!

Well I never!  Goodnight missy!

Of course, what every good dorm needs is a Bonehilda!

And Martin was only too pleased to do the honour of awakening her.

Bonehilda: Hello.  I’m Bonehilda and I will be your maid for this term.

Clare was up early preparing breakfast.

Clare: Don’t you think this campus is lacking in young people?

Martin: Nah!  You’re just looking in the wrong places!

Outside of classes the twins were working hard towards earning their degrees.

Clare had quickly become proficient in the kicky bag skill.

Following her brothers advice, Clare tried a different venue to meet young adults.  The bowling alley.

Clare: This place is so much better than that stale old coffee shop!

Martin was finally playing a game on the computer that was beneficial to his learning.

Do all Bonehilda’s have a drinking problem?!

Martin liked to spend time with his fellow students.

While Clare preferred to use her free time for studying.

But things were about to change for Clare.  As she tried to focus on the lecturers monotone ramblings, she noticed a dark haired guy standing in the corner.

He seemed to be listening intently to the lecture.  Clare couldn’t help but stare.  This guy was gorgeous!

Clare lost herself in the handsome stranger until she suddenly realised he was looking back at her.  Quickly, Clare turned her attention back to the lesson, her face flushing.

She held up her hand to ask a question, hoping it would look like she had been paying attention all along.  She glanced over at the guy and saw him smirk.  Slowly she lowered her hand and looked down at her notebook, hoping the ground would open up and swallow her.

Head down, Clare headed towards the door trying to avoid the mysterious man.  However he had other ideas.

?: Hello.

Clare: Ah, um, hi.  Sorry I didn’t see you there.

?: Didn’t you?  So that wasn’t you staring at me during the class then?

Clare: Staring? Me? *nervous laugh* No, I was looking at the, uh, plant.  Yes the plant.

?: The plant?

Clare: Yes it’s so green and uh shiny.

?: Green and shiny huh?

Clare: *blushes*

?: Well plant lady.  I’m Adam.  Adam Leto.  Pleased to meet you.

A big thank you to LJFoxie for allowing me to borrow the gorgeous Adam Leto! <3

Clare: Pleased to meet you too Adam.  I’m Clare.

Clare: So, are you a student here?  I’ve not seen you before.  What are you studying?  Where are you from?

Adam: Urm, are you always so inquisitive?

Clare: *blushes* Sorry I…

Adam: Look, I’ve got to head for class.  How about we meet up sometime and I can answer all those questions of yours?

Clare: Sure, I’d love to.

Adam: See you around plant lady!

As Adam headed out the door Clare slapped her hand against her forehead.

Clare: OMG!  I’m such an idiot!  He’s never going to want to see me again!

Well, yes.  That could have gone better!

Martin was struggling to stay awake in class.  The lecture was so dull.  He couldn’t understand why these guys couldn’t spice it up a bit, spark some interest.

His snoring however alerted the attention of the lecturer.

Lecturer: Mr Pendragon.  Are you with us?

Martin: Huh!

Wiping the drool from his chin, Martin got out his notebook.

Martin: Uh, yes sir.  Sorry sir.

With the lecture finally over, Martin headed to the science room to show his classmates how it should really be done.  He drew quite a crowd as he talked guitar riffs and piano scales.  In particular one young lady caught his attention.

He finished his lecture and was greeted with a round of applause from his fellow students.  He headed quickly over to introduce himself to the beautiful woman that had caught his eye.

Martin: Well hello there beautiful, I’m Martin Pendragon.

?: *giggles* Hey smooth talker.

Martin: So, does beauty have a name?

?: I’m Carolina Rose.

Martin: Well it is an honour to meet you Miss Rose.  Maybe you would care to join me for a drink?

Carolina:  Oh, I would but I have to be somewhere.  Raincheck?

Martin: I’ll hold you to that.

Carolina: *grins* I hope you do.

Huge thanks to Kuba for the loan of the beautiful Carolina Rose! <3

Clare hadn’t seen or heard from Adam again.  She was disappointed that she had made such a mess of their first meeting and didn’t blame him for keeping away.

Martin was having better luck with Carolina.  Although they still hadn’t had those drinks he’d promised, he had been keeping in touch by text.

The end of the first term had arrived and both had passed their exams with flying colours.  As Clare felt her phone buzz in her pocket she expected an invite to another party.  She just wasn’t in the mood, she still felt down about not seeing Adam again.

Clare sighed and looked down at her phone.

Clare: Adam!?  How did he get my number!

Clare opened the message.

Clare: OMG!  He wants to meet up!  I didn’t blow it! *psychotic laugh*

Urm, not the best look there hun!  Best you calm yourself down before you meet him otherwise you will scare him off!

Clare headed back to the dorm for a calming workout before her meet up with Adam.

Martin had spent so much time studying he decided the weekend was time to relax and enjoy his artistic side.

Feeling calmer, Clare headed off to meet Adam.

Clare: Don’t say anything stupid.  Don’t say anything stupid.

She managed to keep it together and have a sensible conversation.  They were getting on really well and seemed to have so much in common.

But then Clare got stupid again!

Adam: What the!

Clare: Oh gosh!  I’ve done it again!

Adam: I don’t think you’ve done that before, I would have remembered!

Clare: No I mean done something stupid!  I just don’t know why you make me so impulsive!  I’m not normally like this, really I’m not!

Adam: Well that’s a shame.

Clare: Huh?

Adam: I kinda like this impulsive you.

Clare: Really?  But I…

Adam: I think it’s my turn to be impulsive now *cheeky grin*

Adam: So, you wanna go on a date?

Clare: A proper date?

Adam: *laughs* Yes, a proper date.

Clare: *blushes* yes please.

Random Girl: Ugh!  Public displays of affection are so gross!

Clare: Until tonight then?

Adam: Tonight.

Clare watched as Adam walked away.  She just stood and stared.

Urm Clare?  Are you okay?

Clare: Hmmm?  I’m wonderful *sigh*

Well don’t you think you should be heading back and getting ready for your date?

Clare: Oh!  Cripes yes!

When Clare arrived Adam was playing guitar for tips.

She stood and watched him for a while.

Clare: Humph!  I thought this was supposed to be a date!  He is good though.

As soon as he saw her stood watching, Adam packed up his guitar and pulled her in for a hug.

Adam: I’m so glad you came.

Clare: I brought you flowers!

Adam: Wow!  Aren’t I supposed to give flowers to you?

Clare: Did you get me flowers?

Adam: Um, no.

Clare: Oh.

Adam: Any flowers would pale in comparison to your beauty.

Clare: You know just what to say to a girl!

Adam: Look, I know we haven’t known each other long but, would you consider being my girlfriend?

Clare: Your girlfriend?

Adam: Sorry stupid idea.

Clare:  I’m good with stupid.  Of course I will.

Where Clare had been spending her weekend getting to know her new boyfriend, Martin had been spending it partying and he was starting to burn out.

With the last term of uni beginning, Clare was walking around in a loved up daze.  She wrote a stack of love letters to Adam

And called him at every opportunity.

Martin was following much more grown up pursuits, like clearing the leaves.

Urm…

The twins decided to throw a bonfire party.  Clare set about lighting the fire.

While Martin fired up the kegger.

Clare: Are you going to help anytime soon or just get juiced up?

Martin: I’m doing it!

Martin: Perfection.

As night fell more and more guests arrived.

Strange chemicals were thrown into the fire.  Some creating beautiful effects, others not so nice.

Carolina had arrived.  It was the first time Martin had seen her since they had met.

And he wasted no time in showing her how pleased he was to see her!

Luckily she was pleased to see him too!

He wooed her with flowers

And kisses

Before asking her to be his girlfriend.

She accepted.

Wait?  Martin what are you up to?

Oh!

Well someone seems pleased with herself!

Clare and Adam however were taking things at a sensible pace and spent their time together watching the stars.

With the night coming to an end, Clare set off fireworks

That lit up the campus with a warm red glow.

The twins bid adieu to their new partners

And readied themselves for classes.

Finals were drawing near and the twins were working hard.

Martin still took some time out to paint.

Clare also took some time out; to party.

She had a little too much juice however and her behaviour was far from polite!

She even went dumpster diving.  A habit she picked up from her father me thinks!

But juice or no juice, Clare was up early as usual working out.

Martin:  How does she do it?!

She even managed to get some studying in before class.

Martin’s breakfast was ruined by a particularly smelly dorm mate.

So he called Clare for help.

Martin: Hey sis, we have a personal hygiene situation in the dining area.  Any chance of working that magic of yours?

Clare: I’m on it!

Random Dorm Mate: What the…!

The term had flown by and it was time for finals.

Clare: You ready for this?

Martin: Ready as I’ll ever be.  Good luck!

Clare:  You too.

With the day finally over, Clare and Martin felt both confident and nervous about their results.  If they didn’t pass it would mean completing another 2 terms.

And what do you do after final exams?  Party of course!

Results were in.  Clare's hands shook as she read the letter.

They both completed their degrees!

From her time at university, Clare gained the natural cook trait.

And Martin gained the workaholic trait.

Clare and Martin said goodbyes to their new friends and loved ones

And headed home.
